Wavelet is an iOS app that shows your device's live network speed, network type, and cumulative data usage, with Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center widgets. This page covers how to get it working and how to reach us.
Wavelet makes no outbound network connections. No analytics, no third-party SDKs, no server of any kind. The app and the widget run entirely on-device.
The only data Wavelet stores is what your device produces: per-minute usage samples derived from the operating system's byte counters, your preferences (theme, units, monthly quota, widget settings), and the most recent speed snapshot for the widget. It lives in the app's sandboxed container on your device. We have no access to it.

Widgets refresh on a system-managed schedule, typically every few minutes. Wavelet writes a fresh snapshot whenever it is open in the foreground. Opening the app will refresh the widget immediately.
Speed is measured by sampling the device's byte counters once per second. If your device isn't actively sending or receiving traffic, the speed is genuinely zero. Try loading a webpage or starting a download to see the readout move.
Wavelet counts bytes that pass through the cellular interface from the moment the app first runs. Your carrier counts bytes on their network and may include or exclude things differently (e.g. zero-rated services, billing-cycle alignment). The two numbers will not match exactly. Treat Wavelet's number as a personal reference, not a billing source of truth.
Wavelet samples while it is running in the foreground. When the app is not in the foreground, sampling pauses, so long periods with the app closed will leave gaps in the per-minute history.
Displaying the Wi-Fi network name requires Location permission. We chose not to request it, since Wavelet does not need location data to show speed and usage.
No. Wavelet does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information or usage data off the device. See the Privacy Policy for the full statement.
Open the Wavelet app and use the reset option in Settings. Deleting the app also removes all stored data.
